I have plans for you, August

Goals for the year's eighth month:

Allow more time for naps, in support of this quote:
There is more refreshment and stimulation in a nap,
even of the briefest,
than in all the alcohol ever distilled.
-Edward Verrall Lucas

Simplify and declutter
I'm coming for you, closets.

Climb out of bed earlier while the days are long
I've been working on this goal for ten years.

Arrange a date with Windex, rags, and my car
The car may be free of stuff, but it's not free of dust.

Buy produce only from the farmer's market
Trying to do a better job of supporting local agriculture,
even though the grocery store is more convenient.

Make one big shopping trip for the month
(excluding produce, milk, and bread)
Very excited about this one.
Grocery shopping is my favorite.

Spend more time at the pool,
adding a few final freckles to this summer's collection
They fade a little in the winter, so I better stock up.

Read at least 10 books
Started: Catcher in the Rye and Unchartered TerriTORI
On deck: My Fair Lazy and The Great Gatsby

Figure out a plan for Christmas shopping
The holidays are just around the corner!

Use Netflix more frequently or get rid of the expense
Confession: I gave up on True Blood.

Increase calcium and vitamin D intake, per Mom's orders.
Mama says a multivitamin doesn't cut it.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Such a practical list! You can do it, dear!

I've been trying to simplify and declutter my room for the past five weeks. However, it's extremely difficult for me when I'm so sentimental and want to hang onto everything!

Best of luck with tackling all these things! You can do it, girl!

  2. Aww, you gave up on True Blood? That's a shame, season three is heating up! I should use or lose my Netflix, too, cometothinkofit...

    And naps are wonderful :)

  7. Love the list! I need to copy it! we have very similar goals!! I LOVE naps and sleeping in! For years I set my alarm super early thinking I would work out...I also thought when I got older getting up would be easier...NOT so much! haha!

  8. Great goals! You should try Viactiv chews -- that's how I increase my Calcium and Vit D...and the super sweet chews pass as a dessert when the cupboard is getting bare! ;)

  9. Christmas shopping! Some years I'm on top of it and done way ahead of time, and other years, I just don't get to it until the last minute, mostly because I forget. But if I start now...

These sound like very reasonable goals! Good luck!

  10. I love your list! I try to visit farmer's markets, but sometimes it's so much easier to run to the store. I don't think I could just make one big monthly trip to the store. I go every week!

  11. Oooh great post....the whole list is fantastic...I just wish I had time to do all of them...like wash the car, get up early and have daily naps...hmmmm infact I just wished for a charmed life - but I am going to try and do some of the things on this list :)

  17. i'm currently getting true blood through netflix because my parents talk about it nonstop and i figured since my mom gave twilight a shot for me, i'd do the same for her...the acting, oh good grief (i know the twilight stars are nothing to sneeze at but at least the supporting cast actually SUPPORTS), it is awful and i'm a little on the prude side i guess because i can't stand all the sex scenes.

buuuuuuut my bf loves it so i watch it for him.

  24. Love your list! You are going to enjoy the books! And who couldn't use more vitamin D? I think I am currently the whitest I've been... ever. That is saying a lot, because they used to call me Casper in grade school... Then when with the apparition vocabulary word in fifth grade, I was apparition. Boo.

Lovely weekend napping by the pool to you!

  30. I'm with you on the "simplify and declutter" goal. The other day I was just thinking that I have so much stuff that I really don't need - and I certainly don't need to shop and by more!

If you hit up a health store, they have delightful Vitamin D chewable vitamins that taste like SweetTarts. I really don't mind taking my vitamin when it tastes like candy! (They also have one for vitamin C which is almost as tasty.)

  31. More naps sounds PERFECT to me! And 10 books? Holy wow!
