365 Days of Happy: Day 126

Today is the 60th wedding anniversary of two of the greatest grandparents a girl could ask for!

I spoke to my grandma this evening and congratulated her on reaching this milestone.  As usual, she was humble, failing to give herself credit for being wonderful, loving, and supportive - traits I know have contributed to her marriage's success.

I also spoke to my grandpa, whose strong conviction to take care of his family and to always do what's right have helped him have 60 happy years with my grandma.

My grandparents married young and a whole lot of happiness ensued.  My grandpa taught my grandma how to drive and the cute couple went on to have three cute babies, one of whom was my dad.

I have never known my grandparents' love to waiver.  They have stood the test of time and have grown closer rather than apart.  They finish each other's sentences, fill in the blanks when recalling memories, and gosh darnit, it's even cute when they bicker.

I went from living 25 miles to 500 miles away from my grandparents, but they still continue to teach me lessons in love, loyalty, and family.  I don't like to think about growing old, but if I should ever be so lucky, I hope to be like them.

Though my grandpa is spending today in the hospital (he has a procedure scheduled for tomorrow - please keep him in your thoughts/prayers!), my grandma was able to visit and spend part of this special day together.

Happy 60th wedding anniversary, Grandma and Pop Pop!
