If I post this today, it means it hasn't quite been a full month since I've blogged. The hiatus was not wasted, but I am glad to be back. When I'm not writing I'm not reading... and I miss both!
September fared well overall, especially compared to August. October is off to a lovely start. Fall used to be my least favorite season, can you believe that? Now it's right up there with winter. And spring. And summer. They're all my favorite. Don't even bother guessing how many Pumpkin Spice Lattes I've the past couple of weeks. We can't count that high.
Keith's almost two months into deployment! I know what it's like to be single and I know what it's like to be in a relationship. The past two months have felt like some weird blend of those two familiar worlds.
I love him. And l miss him. The phone calls are never going to be frequent enough and the emails are never going to be long enough, but I'm grateful for each one. It's hard, but I know it's harder for Keith. He's doing a dangerous job in a dangerous place far away from home. Triple whammy. Continued good thoughts for him are appreciated, as always.
Okay, that concludes the verbal update - onto the visual update.
(Disclaimers: I'm not a photographer and my camera is my iPhone.)
As you may remember, the month started out with this...
I am happy to report that my darling little car is back in shipshape condition.
The weather has been a little crazy, but an all-around lovely mix of rain, sun and some beautiful skies...
I have been trying to decide whether or not to let my hair grow or keep up with a shortish style...
Behold, exhibit A: August hair and exhibit B: October hair.
I have been reintroducing myself to the kitchen...
I have been enjoying those aforementioned PSLs...
Let the record show that my name is not - nor has it ever been - Ginny. But those magical baristas can call me whatever they want.
I have been spending some time with the royal nephew...
I KNOW. He is getting so big. Make it stop.
I have begun decorating for the holidays...
I traveled from NC to OH and back for my grandfather's service...
It was sad, wonderful, exhausting and cathartic all rolled into one.
And last but not least, I ran my first 5k...
I can't wait to do another one. I think there's a pack-mentality trick to it. I won't stop running if everyone else is running. Peer pressure, gang - I'm still susceptible.
So. That has been my month. And now if you'll excuse me, I've got some major blog reading to do!
Love,
Jen

Welcome back lady friend! I've missed your posts as well. Congrats on finishing your first 5k!! And seriously, your nephew is growing too quickly! Still cute as ever though :).
So happy to have you back! I like your hair the length it is now!
Congrats again on the 5K I need to get back into running :(
Love your October hair - it is looking gorgeous.
I love the length of your hair now. I say grow it out and if you want to chop it off, do it during the summer. I was ridiculous and decided to let my hair grow out during the summer. Can you say HOT? So glad your car is back! I'm doing Couch to 5k and I'm loving it so far. Sometimes I want to just quit, but I'm determined!
so glad you're back!
what a month it's been for you, dear! It seems like you've experienced so many different emotions and so many different life changing events and achievements mixed in with the day to day.
I don't think I've ever seen "Jenny" spelled "Ginny", that is hilar. As for your hair, you could grow it out now for the winter and if it gets bothersome, chop it off when spring arrives! I just love extra hair for warmth, lol is that weird?
xo dear!
so glad you're back! love the way your hair is now! and that your car is back--always a good thing.
and keeping the good thoughts headed toward Keith. you're so strong. both of you.
Glad you're back. I lost my grandfather too recently. And you know I'm all about the psl
Soooooo happy you have returned to your lovely blog, you know I look forward to it! I'm going to go against the pack and say that I love exhibit A, is that August hair? Maybe it's the way it's styled, or the cute angel you took the photo in. But, you always look gorgeous no matter how you do your hair!
Beautiful nature pics, and the food pics made my stomach growl. Don't even get me started on the psl's! Have you had Carabou Coffee's Hot Apple Blast... swoon! It tastes like Fall!
Your nephew looks so much like Matt when he was a kid! What a cutie! Not sure if I'm alone here but, I miss the sign that said "Ohio Welcomes You"... it made me feel all warm and cozy, of course I'm sure it also had a lot to do with the grandparents house, but still. Every time I pass it, I yell... "no! Ohio welcomes you!" and then Joe makes fun of me and says I need to let it go, lol!
Rock on for the 5k!
Don't stay away so long next time... please? Otherwise I will be writing to you and expecting an email version of your blog! ;)
ps. I often think of Keith and his well being... and sending you little thoughts of strength.
Yay, welcome back! I know we can tweet at each other and all but there's nothing like blogging ;-)
hi dear! sounds like you've had a lot going on, so happy to catch up and hear all about it. i think your pics are fantastic. all my positive thoughts to Keith!
Welome back! Although since I'm following you on twitter, I don't feel like we've really parted! You're absolutely gorgeous no matter how you wear your hair! You could probably pull off a paper bag! Glad you're car is okay too :)
Congratulations on the 5K!! You're absolutely right about the pack mentality. Between that and the adrenaline rush, you can really amaze yourself at a race! So glad that the deployment is going by and it sounds like you're keeping yourself busy. Don't be a stranger :)
